Saturday 05/31/2014 Got off to a good start this am and had a fine day for traveling, blue skies, cloudless and 100 degree heat. We did very well and as we approached Midland Texas, saw a good many windmills.
Further up the road we hit a traffic issue and were stuck for about 20 mins in non moving traffic, but it cleared and we move on. We got past Midland and close to Odessa and started seeing all the oil rigs in the US, or so it seemed. Appeared that 2 out of 3 were pumping, so I fail to see the oil shortage the gas companies cry about. Both the ones in pic below were pumping away. Later down the road there were numerous new derricks punching holes in the earth.
We arrived at Van Horn Texas KOA, around 4:14 pm and got settled in and started to work on dinner. While waiting for me to cook pork chops, Mary and Eileen took the flat sisters for a stroll around the park.
Well it put the first photo of flat sisters at top of page. Here the sisters are trying out a used saddle. We have a scenic view of the surrounding mountains and last but not least a dip in the pool.
last photo is the rig and car at Van Horn.
Ouch! Nice and warm for ya, huh? Interesting stuff, it's a beautiful day in VT, keep on truckin'...
